Creating dream smiles

Our patient had her modeling career tragically ended by an auto accident where she broke her 3 front teeth. She always hated her gummy smile and desired a youthful, white, model’s smile. To create her beautiful smile, our Del Mar dental team first completed her case digitally using photo editing software so that she could see her possibilities. After we found the smile she desired, we collaborated with a gum specialist where she had an Esthetic Gum Lift completed. This then laid the canvas for us to create the smile of her dreams.

Our 15-year-old patient was born without lateral incisors (congenitally missing lateral incisors). She was too young for dental implants. So we worked closely with her orthodontist to create a situation where we could create beautiful and strong Maryland Style bridges without drilling on her existing teeth.

The porcelain bridges were just bonded onto her existing teeth. The patient was diligent with whitening thus creating a beautiful canvas for us to create her new smile. The goals in her case were:

1) To have a whiter more cosmetic smile
2) To make her canines (eye teeth) less pointy and more curvy
3) To straighten the one central incisor with conservative bonding

The patient and parents were extremely happy with her new whiter, cosmetic smile. This case was so successful due to communication amongst a team consisting of the patient, the parents, the orthodontist, the porcelain artist and Dr. Campbell.

In-Office & Take-Home Teeth Whitening

In-office whitening delivers fast results and can significantly brighten your smile in just one appointment. At our Del Mar dental office, we use Zoom! Whitening, and this treatment is ideal if you want to whiten your teeth quickly before an upcoming special event.

We also offer custom take-home whitening kits, which provide you with professional results in the comfort of your own home. During your consultation, your dentist at Del Mar Dental Studio will assess your smile, discuss your needs, and help you determine which option is best for you.

Reshape & Restore Your Teeth

Bonding, Shaping & Contouring

Dental bonding involves the application of dental resin to improve the color and shape of your tooth. The resin is applied directly to your tooth, then sculpted by Dr. Pizzi to alter its shape, cover up stains, and restore your smile. This treatment is fast and non-invasive.

Shaping and contouring (also called “enameloplasty”) is also often performed alongside dental bonding. This treatment involves gently removing a thin layer of enamel from adjacent teeth to create a more even, pleasing smile.

Versatile Smile Restoration

Veneers

Veneers are designed to cover up the front chewing surfaces of your teeth and they are usually made from a strong porcelain material. During treatment, a small layer of enamel will be removed from your teeth to make room for your veneers. Then, they will be bonded into place, covering up flaws like small gaps, serious stains, misshapen or small teeth. In just 2 appointments at our Del Mar office over a period of 2-3 weeks, you can completely overhaul the appearance of your smile!

Treat “Gummy” Smiles

Crown Lengthening

Crown lengthening refers to the process of trimming away gum tissue to make your teeth look longer. This treatment creates a more aesthetically-appealing smile. With crown lengthening, you can get rid of a “gummy” smile in just a single, one-hour appointment!

straighten your teeth

invisalign

We offer Invisalign treatment for patients who would like straighter, more even teeth. This revolutionary orthodontic option makes it possible to get a straight smile without the time commitment and highly visible treatment associated with traditional braces. Frequently Asked Questions

How much does cosmetic dentistry cost in Del Mar?

When considering cosmetic dentistry in Del Mar, one of the most common questions patients have is about the cost. The price of cosmetic dental procedures can vary widely depending on the specific treatment, the complexity of the case, and the materials used. For instance, teeth whitening is typically more affordable, with prices ranging from $200 to $600. On the other hand, more extensive procedures like dental veneers or implants can cost anywhere from $800 to $2,500 per tooth or implant. At Del Mar Dental Studio, Dr. Todd Pizzi and his team provide personalized consultations to give you a detailed estimate based on your unique needs and desired outcomes. It’s important to remember that while cosmetic dentistry might seem like a significant investment, the benefits of a confident, radiant smile often outweigh the costs, enhancing both your personal and professional life.

Is cosmetic dentistry covered by insurance?

Insurance coverage for cosmetic dentistry is another frequently asked question, as many patients hope to offset some of the costs through their dental insurance plans. Generally, most insurance providers consider cosmetic dentistry to be elective, meaning these procedures are often not covered. However, there can be exceptions. If a cosmetic procedure also has restorative benefits, such as dental crowns that improve both appearance and function, insurance might cover a portion of the cost. It’s crucial to review your specific insurance policy or consult with your insurance provider to understand what is covered. At Del Mar Dental Studio, we assist our patients in navigating their insurance benefits and offer flexible payment options to make cosmetic dentistry accessible.

How long do cosmetic dental results last?

The longevity of cosmetic dental results is a common concern, as patients want to ensure their investment in a beautiful smile is worthwhile. The duration of results varies depending on the type of procedure. For example, professional teeth whitening can last anywhere from six months to two years, depending on your oral hygiene habits and lifestyle choices, such as smoking or consuming staining beverages like coffee and red wine. Veneers and crowns, on the other hand, can last 10 to 15 years or longer with proper care. Dental implants are known for their durability, often lasting a lifetime if maintained with good oral hygiene and regular dental check-ups. Dr. Todd Pizzi emphasizes the importance of routine dental visits and proper oral care to extend the life of your cosmetic enhancements.

Who is a candidate for cosmetic dentistry?

Determining candidacy for cosmetic dentistry is an essential step in the journey to a transformed smile. Most individuals in good oral health are candidates for cosmetic procedures, but it often depends on the specific treatment and the patient’s dental health goals. Ideal candidates are those who are looking to enhance the appearance of their teeth and smile, whether it’s correcting discoloration, misalignment, gaps, or other aesthetic concerns. It’s also crucial that candidates have healthy gums and teeth, as underlying dental issues like cavities or gum disease need to be addressed before cosmetic treatments can be performed. At Del Mar Dental Studio, Dr. Todd Pizzi conducts comprehensive evaluations to ensure that each patient is a suitable candidate for the desired cosmetic procedure, tailoring treatment plans to meet individual needs and expectations.

Understanding the details surrounding cosmetic dentistry can empower you to make informed decisions about your dental health and aesthetic goals. Whether you're curious about costs, insurance, longevity, or candidacy, the team at Del Mar Dental Studio is dedicated to providing clear and comprehensive information to help guide you through your cosmetic dentistry journey.
